Helping People Improve Their Health Every Day

Community Health Improvement Week (May 31 – June 6) is a national event to raise awareness and increase understanding of community health improvement activities and the people and organizations that lead them. The event’s primary intent is to highlight the value that community health professionals contribute to improving health in their towns, cities and counties.

atom Alliance wants to celebrate partners in the communities we serve who are working to improve health through screening, prevention and wellness, access to care and “healthy community” initiatives.

In our five-state region, atom Alliance works closely with community health workers to reduce disparities in diabetes care, and improve cardiac health and adult immunization rates.

Community health works to provide access to preventive health services for all, delivers health education and connects people to resources, and helps to ensure the health and safety of the environment. It complements medical care by helping people maintain and improve their health every day.

During this special week, hospitals, care providers, public health and health improvement coalitions across the country will engage their organizations and communities to raise awareness and understanding of community health and demonstrate its benefits. The organizations will hold forums and educational events, and distribute communications about the community health programs they offer. For more information, visit www.healthycommunities.org/chiweek.
