Learning Session 4: Principles of Non-Pharmacologic Management and the Formulation of Behavioral Care Plans

This is the fourth (of six) webinars in the Antipsychotic Reduction Series, a partnership between Qsource and Vanderbilt Center for Quality Aging. An interdisciplinary team created this series to assist long-term care facilities in their efforts to decrease reliance on antipsychotic medications.

A medical director and nurse practitioner lead participants through the IA-ADAPT tools to highlight the principles of behavior care plans and the steps to develop them.

 

Objectives:

  1. To review the contexts, causes, and consequences of behavioral disturbances
  2. To discuss the basic principles of non-pharmacological interventions
  3. To assess and treat the contributing factors of behavioral disturbances
  4. To develop behavioral care plans using specific non-pharmacological approaches
  5. To provide tools for measurement and documentation of behavioral disturbances
