This session serves to introduce facilities to common problem behaviors, the risks of antipsychotic medications, and QAPI principles.
Objectives:
- To provide an overview of dementia and problem behaviors in the long-term care setting.
- To describe the potential adverse effects of antipsychotic medications for managing problem behaviors.
- To provide an introduction to the principles of QAPI and its application to reduce antipsychotic drug use
