Halloween isn’t just for kids. Nursing home residents can have fun too.

The Nursing Home Activities Resource website shares several ways your facility can create a spooktacular holiday!

First, decide if you want to have a Harvest-themed or Halloween-themed holiday. You can choose by asking for input from the residents to determine their preferences.

Harvest-fest ideas include

• hosting a night garden party,
• holding a scavenger hunt,
• decorating pumpkins or
• having a carnival party.

Halloween party ideas include

• holding a scary movie marathon,
• hosting a murder mystery,
• having a costume party,
• making crafts and so much more.

You could even invite local kids or grandkids to come trick-or-treat. Residents would benefit from the company and would enjoy passing out treats . . . unless they prefer tricks.
