atom Alliance Assists with Quality Improvement Initiatives for Care Concerns

atom Alliance is committed to assisting providers and practitioners improve the quality of patient care. We provide quality improvement assistance on a large scale at a systems level or on a smaller scale at an individual case level.

Referrals to atom Alliance for provider and/or practitioner assistance with Quality Improvement Initiatives (QIIs) may originate from various Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services-approved sources. This includes the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) if its case review confirms quality of care concerns. KEPRO is the BFCC-QIO for the states in atom Alliance. It is responsible for case review.

QIIs are formal activities that use proven methodologies to achieve improvement. QIIs include the use of evidence-based tools and resources, measurable interventions and proven methodologies. Through QIIs, we help providers

  • identify the root cause of a quality concern
  • develop a framework for improvement
  • test the change, measure for improvement
  • adapt interventions for further improvement and spread

We will work with providers to devise measurable QIIs and monitor them for successful resolution. For more information, please contact Frances Richardson, RN, CPHQ, CPHM.
